Manley awarded NACADA New Advisor Annual Conference Scholarship

Cathy Manley, Student Success Coordinator in the West Virginia University College of Applied Human Sciences, has been awarded a NACADA New Advisor Annual Conference Scholarship, one of just three given each year by the National Academic Advising Association.

The scholarship provides full registration to the NACADA Annual Conference, the premier professional development event for academic advisors worldwide. The award supports new advising professionals with 1-3 years of experience and is intended to foster future leadership within NACADA.

Manley, who joined the CAHS Office of Student Success in 2023, was selected based on her demonstrated commitment to student advising, her goals for conference participation, and her plans to apply what she learns to benefit WVU students and advising practices.

“I'm excited to share the great work we are doing with parallel planning for students pursuing healthcare professions," Manley said. "I also look forward to networking and to gathering new ideas from other advisors throughout the country.”

In addition to her advising duties, Manley is an active member of the NACADA Health Professions Advising Community Steering Committee, a certified Appreciative Advisor, and has presented at both the 2024 and 2025 NACADA Annual Conferences. She also serves on the Executive Committee and Professional Development Committee for the West Virginia Advising Council.
