The WVU College of Applied Human Sciences has named Ryan Lindsay as its next Chief Business Officer. He succeeds longtime CBO Tracy Wheeler, who is retiring at the end of the fall 2025 semester.
“I am excited to be part of the great team at CAHS,” Lindsay said. “Tracy Wheeler set a strong foundation for this role, and I appreciate the work she has done for the College. I look forward to working with leadership, faculty, and staff to ensure continued financial stability while we also look for opportunities for growth.”
“We proud to welcome back Ryan, an alum of the College, to the team here,” said Nate Sorber, Interim Dean for CAHS. “Ryan is a great fit because of his overall experience and familiarity with WVU, and I’m certain he’ll be a great asset for our College.
“I, too, am very grateful for Tracy’s leadership and steadfast support to WVU for so many years. We will miss her, but wish her well in retirement.”
Lindsay has already started in the role and will work closely with Wheeler through the end of the semester to ensure a smooth transition.
Lindsay is a two-time WVU graduate who brings more than 20 years of experience of financial, operational, and analytical experience across higher education, banking, and government sectors. He moves to CAHS most recently after seven years with WVU as a Financial Analyst Senior, where he oversaw budgeting and financial operations for University-wide capital projects and for key operational units. His portfolio included comprehensive financial management for Facilities, PRT, Parking, and Transportation. He previously served in the same role from 2012-15.
Before returning to WVU, he spent two years with AOC Solutions as a Managed Services Associate, serving as the primary liaison between operations and partnered financial institutions. In that role, Lindsay managed organizational metrics and reporting, supported complex platform implementations, trained staff on enterprise systems, and guided issue-escalation processes to strengthen client service and operational efficiency.
From 2006 to 2012, Lindsay worked as a Financial Analyst Senior at Huntington National Bank, where he supported multiple business units—including capital markets, commercial banking, and real estate—through financial modeling, monthly reporting, portfolio analysis, and budgeting. He developed dashboards, evaluated profitability on specialty deals, and created analytical tools used by segment leadership, earning approval by the corporate Board of Directors as a Staff Officer. He began his career as a financial analyst with Lockheed Martin, providing foundational experience in financial reporting and project analysis.
Lindsay started at WVU as a student worker in Athletic Facilities and Operations while earning a B.S. in business administration (finance) in 2004 and a M.S. in sport management in 2005. He later earned his MBA from the University of Nebraska.
