Sam Zizzi, associate professor of sport and exercise psychology, offers wellness guidance in the Washington Post’s online article “How to turn a fitness goal into a lifetime of good health.”
Zizzi provides tips for those who wish to maintain a plan for good health. “In general, the idea of changing your health at the start of a new year is a common idea. But these goals and attempts often fade by springtime because many people take the wrong approach. This article addresses how to make new attempts to change your health stick,” said Zizzi.
“In CPASS, one of our strategic goals is to improve the health of West Virginia citizens and beyond. Sharing the best strategies for maintaining health goals and breaking down myths of behavior change are both important pieces of the science of helping people change,” he added.
As a wellness consultant, Zizzi encourages people to make sure they have multiple plans in place. He explains that people should have a backup plan just in case something comes up. In the article, Zizzi explains the importance of having the right exercise system. He points out that individuals need to focus on fitness goals and be accountable.
Zizzi gives credit to the students and faculty at West Virginia University for having been identified as a spokesperson. “Being recognized as an important source in the Washington Post is just another sign that we have excellent students and faculty in CPASS,” Zizzi said.
