Through a partnership with West Virginia University Libraries, all WVU students, faculty and staff will have free digital access to the Sports Business Journal for the 2022-23 academic year. The complimentary access to the nation’s leading publication in sports business is valued at more than $800 for industry professionals.
Those interested can access the journal here. A WVU login and password are required to view the publication.
SBJ provides comprehensive commentary of the sports business landscape with original reporting and news aggregation. Coverage includes event analysis, transactions, videos, podcasts and editorials from leading practitioners.
Sport management program faculty in the College of Applied Human Sciences see the benefit of the SBJ access for students and plan to use its content in classes.
"Getting free access to SBJ is huge for our students,” Gary Lhotsky, teaching associate professor, sport management, said. “Having access to learn about current trends in the sport industry is going to be an asset for them. I have used SBJ in my facilities class for readings and quizzes. I am excited to expound on its use in my issues in sport management course, using it for student presentations and in-depth discussions.
Justin Wartella, teaching assistant professor, sport management, agrees that SBJ is vital to keeping tabs on the rapidly moving sport landscape.
“I like my classes to be practical and have relevant and current resources to supplement what they are learning daily. SBJ does just that,” Wartella said. “I think that our students will quickly discover that SBJ is the primary source for up-to-date sports business news and current information across the sports industry."
