An upcoming WVU Abroad trip will highlight the business facets of sport in Europe. Students participating in the summer 2020 study abroad adventure will visit Ireland, England and France.
Students will gain firsthand experience about the European sport model and club sports unique to Europe during the May 17-28, 2020 trip.
The excursion will feature stops in Dublin, Liverpool, Manchester, Loughborough, London and Paris. Students will tour historic landmarks, training facilities and legendary stadiums, such as Croke Park in Dublin, Anfield in Liverpool, Old Trafford in Manchester, the Olympic Stadium in London and Roland Garros in Paris. Students will experience unique Irish and English sports, such as Irish football, hurling and cricket.
The trip will provide students with an opportunity to observe how sport is funded and developed outside of the United States, particularly in Europe.
“While many of the subjects studied in this trip will focus on the management and business side of sport, students will also learn about best practices of coaching and sport psychology used in Ireland, England and France,” Gonzalo Bravo, sport management associate professor, said.
“Students will gain knowledge and an understanding of the role education and culture have on sport in these three countries,” added Bravo.
The trip is open to all WVU students, with priority given to CPASS majors. Read more about the trip and register.
