National Webinar Highlights State Physical Activity Plan

CPASS Ware Distinguished Professor, Dr. Eloise Elliott, continues to see success in promoting healthy lifestyles in West Virginia.

Elliott was invited to participate in a webinar sponsored by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) on Jan. 30. The webinar featured the Physical Activity Guidelines for all Americans, and Elliott had the opportunity to highlight the West Virginia Physical Activity Plan.

The primary goal of the WVPAP is to provide a strategic direction to increase/maintain healthy physical activity levels of West Virginia citizens through the development, implementation, and evaluation of an effective plan that will encourage input and collaboration, and guide policy and practice of citizens from every societal sector and in every region of the state.

Due to the success of the webinar, ASTHO may include a section dedicated to West Virginia on its website. The section will provide links to the state’s physical activity plan site.

“You’ve got such a wealth of information and resources on your website, and we want to be sure to share it with others,” said Kristen Wan, senior analyst for Health Promotion & Disease Prevention at ASTHO.

Elliott’s participation in the webinar offers an opportunity to highlight the activities in place to help West Virginians live a healthier, happier lifestyle.
